Skin boosters are injectable hydrators. Rather than adding shape or volume, they deliver hyaluronic acid in tiny micro-droplets across the treatment area, improving the skin’s hydration, elasticity and radiance from within. At ELM Aesthetics we offer Redensity 1 and Restylane Vital, chosen for your skin by Melody Steel, a Nurse Prescriber with over 19 years’ experience and a background in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery unit at St James’s Hospital. For bioremodelling, see also Profhilo.

Redensity 1

From the Teoxane laboratories, Redensity 1 is a light hyaluronic acid booster enriched with a patented complex of amino acids, minerals, antioxidants and vitamin B6 — nutrients the skin uses naturally. Delivered in fine micro-injections across the face, neck or décolletage, it restores hydration, radiance and elasticity to skin that has begun to look dull, dehydrated or tired. The classic “healthy glow” treatment.

Restylane Vital

Restylane Vital uses Galderma’s stabilised hyaluronic acid for a deeper, longer-lasting hydration. It comes into its own on crêpey, thinning areas — the neck, décolletage and backs of the hands — and on skin showing the effects of sun exposure over time. Improvement in firmness, smoothness and skin quality is gradual and cumulative.

Who they suit

  • Dull, dehydrated, tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines and crêpey texture, particularly on the neck and décolletage
  • Skin that wants a glow rather than a change of shape
  • Anyone who wants to pair a skin-quality treatment with anti-wrinkle or filler

What to expect

A series of small, superficial injections across the treatment area; small bumps are normal and settle within a day or two. Results build over two to four weeks, and the best results come from a course of two or three sessions a few weeks apart, with maintenance every four to six months.

Honest limitations

Skin boosters hydrate and improve quality; they do not add volume, lift, or treat expression lines. For collagen stimulation rather than hydration, Profhilo or polynucleotides may be the better fit, and Melody will advise. Results vary from person to person.

Your questions answered

What is the difference between a skin booster and filler?

Filler adds volume in a specific place. Skin boosters are spread as micro-droplets across an area to hydrate and improve skin quality without changing shape.

Redensity 1 or Restylane Vital?

Redensity 1 is the lighter, glow-giving all-rounder; Restylane Vital is heavier and longer-lasting, better for crêpey necks, décolletage and hands. Melody will recommend based on your skin.

How many sessions do I need?

Two or three sessions a few weeks apart give the best results, then maintenance every four to six months.

Is there downtime?

Small bumps at the injection points for a day or two, occasionally a small bruise. Most people return to normal activities immediately.
